This quote to me is easy to understand. In football your major goal is to score a touchdown and you know where the goalposts are and how much you have to run. Your goals in life are like that, Once you know what you want and what you want to do you'll reach your goal because you know what you have to do to get there. But if you don't know what you want, the goalpost (metaphorically speaking) is nowhere in sight so you won't be able to know what you have to do to there. For example if you want to be a doctor which is your goal, you know what you have to do to get there and you have that in your mind. But if you don't know what you want to be, you don't see your goal and if you don't know where the "goalpost" is, it is difficult to achieve your goal. So yeah I do agree completely with this guy because it's so true. You can't go anywhere if you can't see where you are going and this is what I understand from this quote.
